Ahsanul Hafiz
Building Opportunity Through Hard Work and Community.
Starting a New Life in Canada
Ahsanul Hafiz was born in Bangladesh and raised in a family that valued education, honesty, and hard work. His mother was a schoolteacher and his father was a small business owner. From them, he learned that success should come through effort and integrity, and that people should always try to support their community and treat others with respect.
In 2002, he came to Canada as an international student to study at the University of Windsor. He eventually graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, with studies focused on economics, statistics, finance, and business management. Like many newcomers, he worked while studying to support himself. In 2004, he took a job delivering pizzas for Domino’s.
It was a simple job, but he treated it as an opportunity. He worked hard, learned every part of the business, and earned the trust of his team. By 2006, while still completing his degree, he had already been promoted to General Manager. Those early years taught him persistence and responsibility. Building a life in a new country requires patience, teamwork, and people who believe in giving others a chance.
Building a Business and Giving Back
In 2012, after many years of work and experience, he purchased his first Domino’s Pizza franchise. The following year he expanded to additional locations. Over time his business continued to grow, and today he owns and operates 30 Domino’s stores across Ontario, becoming one of the larger Domino’s franchise operators in the province.
He believes success should also help the community. Through his businesses he has supported schools, youth programs, hospitals, and charitable organizations, donating time, food, and financial support to families and community initiatives. He has also been active with chambers of commerce and community organizations.
A lifelong soccer fan, he has supported youth sports and sponsored more than a dozen teams, helping young people gain access to programs that build confidence, teamwork, and leadership. He was elected to the Board of Directors of Soccer Ontario, where he helps shape opportunities for soccer players across the province. He has also helped organize community sports initiatives, including creating a local cricket team.
Looking Forward: Serving Scarborough Southwest
Today, Ahsanul Hafiz lives in Scarborough with his wife and their two sons. After building a successful career outside of politics, he wants to give back to the community that helped him build his life.
In Scarborough Southwest, he sees many families facing rising costs and financial pressure. He believes strong communities require strong supports that help people through difficult times and allow families to build stability.
He also knows how important the first job can be for a young person. His own journey began delivering pizza while he was a student. Those early opportunities teach responsibility, help young people pay for their education, and build confidence about the future. He believes that strong education opens doors and helps families build stable lives so they can eventually enjoy the life they worked hard to create together.
As an Ontario Liberal MPP, he will take on these challenges with the honour and integrity he learned from his parents, supported by his wife, and inspired by the example he hopes to set for his two sons. His goal is to ensure that all residents of Scarborough Southwest have the same opportunities to succeed that he was fortunate to have had.
